In the previous week, Roy and Maisie (mostly Maisie, very much in charge) worked out a routine whereby they stood on the edge of the decking, Roy said: Ready, Steady, Go! and they both jumped down. Then Maisie ran round in a half-circle and climbed back onto the decking, and they started all over again. On this day, they both stood on the edge of the decking, Roy said: Ready, Steady, Go! and jumped down, all by himself. Maisie stood serenely on the decking, and in her own time sedately stepped down (and ran round in a half-circle and climbed back onto the decking). Here she is, doing just that.
